【本報綜合報道】美國聯邦政府因兩黨難以彌合的分歧而停擺，經濟民生將受到重創，多達400萬美國人拿不到工資，其中一半是軍人及軍隊行政人員，數十萬聯邦政府職員將被迫放無薪假。從經濟數據公布到公共福利等多項政府服務將暫停，近2,000個災後重建項目將不得不延遲。
《華盛頓郵報》報道，聯邦政府上周四通知公務員，指一旦國會無法通過支出法案，聯邦政府將關閉，數百萬聯邦僱員及現役美軍再過3天恐怕領不到薪金。一些員工需暫時放無薪假，少數承擔特殊服務的員工需繼續工作，包括航空交通管制員。國家公園將暫時關閉，核發護照進度延後。
由於缺乏資金，美國國防部將延後已簽署合約的付款流程，正在洽談中的合約可能延期或告吹。美國軍援烏克蘭物資轉移可能放緩，甚至是暫停。美國中央情報局暫未公布對策，但參與運作、分析及網絡安全的職員可能因沒有薪水可發而勒令停工，並取消非關鍵出訪。
