世界排名第8的林昀儒與排名高居第2的馬龍過去曾交手過5次，林昀儒共搶下2勝居下風，不過昨賽後馬龍被問及如何準備今天的比賽時，他表示2人最近幾次對決幾乎都廝殺到最後一局，「自己不存在什麼優勢，所以希望有好的發揮」。今開局林昀儒接球有些不夠穩定，以4：11讓馬龍率先拿下1局，不過第2局隨即狀態回穩，一度取得7：2的領先，不過隨即陷入膠著被追到7：6，所幸在暫停之後成功以11：7收下，將局數扳成1：1平手。
